Rob Evans, LMFT, LPCC
I have been helping people develop, regain, foster and maintain relationships for 25 years. I will work with you to improve your relationship with yourself, significant others, your children or other family members. My primary style of therapy is considered Cognitive Therapy, sometimes known as CBT or Cognitive Behavior Therapy . The American Institute for Cognitive Therapy states, “Cognitive therapy helps the patient learn effective self-help skills that are used in homework assignments that help you change the way you think, feel and behave now. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is action-oriented, practical, rational, and helps the patient gain independence and effectiveness in dealing with real-life issues.”
I can help you with many facets of life such as: low self esteem, fears or anxiety. Maybe use or abuse of alcohol or drugs is causing losses in your life. Maybe you are using mood altering substances to cope with distressing emotions. If parenting demands and challenges are causing an increase in marital discord I can teach with specific strategies to help gain some cooperation from your child and strengthen your relationships. Anger and irritability due to stressors at work my cause you to isolate so you don’t take it out on your family. You will learn and practice specific methods to help you participate more fully in life.
For Couples, I am currently in Gottman Method Level 1 training which fits my style as well because it offers a lot of tools to help communication, conflict resolution, and ways to become more connected and loving.
My background is leadership in public and private Mental Health systems of care designing, implementing and providing evidence based practices for both teens and adults. I have designed and lead multiple training programs preparing graduate students and post graduate interns for their career in mental health, addictions treatment, child welfare and private practices.
