Are you living a life of quiet desperation?
Do you feel stuck, lonely, isolated?
Are self-limiting patterns, traumas and behaviors interfering with your spiritual and emotional well-being?
Oftentimes life’s challenges can leave us feeling alone with no where to turn. You don’t have to do it alone.
“The longest journey you will ever make is from your head to your heart”.
I’m not sure who coined this phrase but it truly resonates with me both personally and professionally.
We have all been trained since childhood to live out of fear. And that fear oftentimes intensifies and shapes our self-esteem, life experiences, and relationships with ourselves, families, children, spouse, partners and may others. Due to this, many of us perceive a world that is frightening, unkind and unsafe. This may lead us to a strategy of retreating to our heads because there we feel safe and apart from experiences that are difficult, challenging and dangerous. But doing this, when we retreat to our heads to try to think of ways out of uncomfortable places inside ourselves, we become stuck and locked in with no release from pain and suffering. Protecting ourselves in this way can leave us feeling alone, isolated, and unloved.
We’ve all been told at one time or another to “follow your heart”. But what does this mean? Is this just an empty cliché? When we tap into the intuitive power and intelligence of our heart and allow it to guide us, it will return us to creating balance, autonomy, and a kind regard for ourselves, and others in our lives.
Once we establish our home in our heart we can then formulate strategies in concert with our brain to recognize and change self-limiting beliefs, defenses and destructive behavioral patterns that keep us from manifesting our heart’s desires and creative spirit.
I will work with you to create a safe, supportive environment, encouraging change without force, while honoring the inherent wisdom of your heart. I will gently teach you to get back to the place of feeling rather than thinking so that you can make new choices that come from the “aha” moments you discover about your own process and the choices you consistently make.
My approach is compassionate, intuitive, gentle, respectful, experiential & collaborative. I'll encourage you to listen to your heart, body, soul, as well as your mind for answers that are right for you.
My call to become a professional therapist began with an interest and curiosity in metaphysics and holistic approaches to mental health. I attended John F. Kennedy University, School of Holistic Studies where I was introduced to a variety of Somatic and Transpersonal interventions. Upon completion at JFK I entered a two-year program at the Hakomi Institute where I advanced my skills in somatic psychotherapies through mindfulness, much of which I use in my practice with clients.
Because I have always been a spiritual seeker and embrace the integration of the spiritual aspects of human experience within the framework of psychology and ancient wisdom, I have studied many spiritual philosophies and am currently enrolled as a student at the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.
As a result of all my spiritual and academic endeavors, I believe that emotional healing happens on multiple levels and is advanced by and through the collaborative development of a compassionate and trusting therapeutic relationship.
My style of therapy is eclectic. I use techniques that compliment your personality and will assist you in accessing, recognizing and changing your deepest internal process while eliminating old belief patterns that no longer serve you so that you can heal, grow, love yourself and embrace life!
I work with individuals and couples experiencing Grief/Loss, Trauma/PTSD, Sexual Trauma, Spiritual/Existential issues, Women’s Issues, Major Life Transitions, Personal Growth and Development, Depression & Anxiety.
In my spare time I enjoy long walks in nature, spending time with my sisters, my friends, my pets and furry companions (Flower and Google), reading, writing in my journal and learning all about gardening (this is new)!
Come visit me….I look forward to getting to know you!
